Is a Jeep Wrangler a Good Family Car

is a jeep wrangler a good family car

A Jeep Wrangler is a popular vehicle among car enthusiasts with all the features it provides to the user. However, when our family comes into the picture, the perception can go differently. So, is a Jeep Wrangler a good family car?

Apparently, this vehicle is not the best choice for your family if you consider three important factors when driving: safety, comfort, and height. This vehicle is not the safest and most comfortable you can use on the road and can affect your family’s enjoyment during the ride.

Not the Safest Vehicle for your Family

If you are with your family on a ride, safety should be the priority, right? Especially if you have small babies with you in the vehicle. A previous test conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration only conducted two of its four tests on the vehicle.

The lack of testing means the organization does not give an overall safety rating but only an individual test rating. One of the tests conducted in the standard front impact test which was rated four out of five stars.

This result was fine, although most of the other brands SUVs did get a perfect five stars for this test. This organization still does not test this vehicle for side-impact testing, which can be difficult since side collisions are one of the most dangerous accidents that can happen in a car.

With that said, I still feel that when you try to use this vehicle for a family outing or gathering, it does not provide enough protection for your family the way other SUVs do. Based on the test above, do not expect a side or rear crash to be survivable.

The Jeep Wrangler has long been considered a 4WD off-road vehicle for so many years. I do not think your family will enjoy the noise, harsh riding, and discomfort during the ride. It is not the safest vehicle you can use with your family.

The Jeep Wrangler Does Not Have the Most Comfortable Ride

As I mentioned earlier, the Jeep Wrangler has had the reputation of being an excellent 4WD off-road vehicle for decades. Meaning, that this vehicle thrives off the road. It also means that they are the most comfortable vehicle to ride, especially during a family outing.

Unfortunately, owning a Jeep Wrangler also means accepting that this vehicle makes significant compromises not only in on-road manners but also in space and comfort. The manufacturers have to do it because they want the Jeep to be an excellent road machine. Simple as that.

This vehicle does not have the best clearance out there which means loading your kids up can be a challenge. It can be tiring for parents to keep doing it every time you go on a family shopping or a picnic.

During the ride, the Jeep Wrangler is not the most comfortable vehicle you can use. The road noise is so loud it probably can affect your small babies. As I have said, this vehicle sacrificed all the comfort features just to make sure they can have an impressive impression as an off-road vehicle.

A Jeep Wrangler Will Not Provide convenience at All

If you have a reputation for an excellent off-road vehicle, you should lack convenience right because it cannot come both ways. Even if you are using a four-door Jeep Wrangler, there are not many conveniences it can give to your kids.

The constant road noise on the road will not give any convenience to anyone, especially kids. It will not even provide them with the opportunity to sleep while on the road. The Jeep Wrangler’s design is for off-road use, and comfort is not the primary priority when the manufacturers build it.

Despite all the features it brings to the table, the Jeep Wrangler can be a problem when it comes to convenience or the lack of it. After all, they are still off-road light-duty vehicles. It is usual for a Jeep Wrangler to have horrible road noise and stiffer rides.

In addition, the two-door is a pain when putting the car seats to the rear. For a family car, a Wrangler is not highly recommended since there are other vehicles that can provide the comfort and convenience of the family’s needs during the ride.

Jeep Wrangler is Not Built for Family Used

The Jeep Wrangler is built for off-road but not for family, as simple as that. A good example is the car seat at the back, which is so bad that I think a newly married couple can go directly to divorce.

Seriously, the car seat at the back is so bad it can physically hurt you as you try to stretch it further when you try to buckle the strap. During the summer, trying to remove the top will not probably make the ride more fun for the kids. If they hate it, it means they are not enjoying it.

Lastly, when you have big kids, it can be difficult to fit them at the back. The space is so tight that they might injure their legs just trying to get out of the back seat. The space is so small that it can be dangerous to your kids.

Conclusion

Is a Jeep Wrangler a good family car? I don’t think so. This car is an excellent off-roading machine but not a good fit for family use. It does not have the features that provide safety, comfort, and convenience that a family needs during the ride.
