How to Install a Jeep Wrangler Soft Top
As a Jeep owner, it is a must for you to learn how to put a soft top in your Jeep. You cannot always drive without the top on due to the changes in weather conditions. There will come a time that you need to eventually need to install a soft top in your Jeep, especially when the weather will make it difficult for you to drive without the top and the doors.
How to Put Soft Top on Jeep Wrangler 4 Door
The first thing to do is install and lock the soft top metal frame into your Jeep Wrangler. The metal frame will be the one to connect the top to the vehicle. The metal frame will be installed and locked in two different areas of your Jeep. One is in the front of the windshield, while the other will be in the rear runner. If you are not familiar, the rear runner is located on the inside of the Jeep sides. Please note that installing and locking this frame will not be a problem since you do not need any tools.
The next step is to take the soft top but without the windows yet and place it in the installed frame. The front of the top comes with a plastic runner, which should be placed on the retainer on the front of the windshield.
Then, you will need to start stretching the top slowly over the frame. After doing it, you can set the plastic runners on the rear corners of your vehicle to their respective retainers. Then, you will need to get inside the vehicle for you to be able to snap the soft top of the frame. If you are not familiar, these snaps are found on the center and the rear portion of the metal frame.
Then, look for the zipper to zip the back passenger windows to the top, then placing the plastic retainers into the runners. Please take note that there are two zippers and two retainers in a particular window. Then, you will need to install the rear window with the three zippers available and the retainer bar which slides into the window. Then, you will need to place the pair ends of the rear retainer bar to the metal runners.
Install the front windows by putting the three metal pins to the grommets found on the door. Then, you will need to place the corner of the window to the door. From there, you can find the snap located to the door, which is near to the windshield. Then, you will need to place the retainer to the runner to hold the window in place.
If your Jeep Wrangler does not come with full steel doors, you can use the snaps found on the passenger and front driver windows. You can snap the soft top in these snaps that are running in the frame to ensure that the top will stay secure in one place.
How to Put Soft Top on Jeep Wrangler 2 Door
You can start by pulling the soft top towards the front of the Jeep until it reaches tot the windshield of your vehicle.
Then, you can slide the plastic links over the Sunrider links and secure the top down to the side bow latches above the door frames.
Now, you will need to pull down the rear sales flaps located on the top of the Jeep. You will need to slowly pull it down and slide it into place on the rear of the Jeep.
Then, you will need to line up the swing gate bar with the bracket and push the rear window back into place.
The next step is to zip up the rear window starting from the left then to the right. Then, you need to tuck the retainers into the swing gate bar back into the body and make sure that everything is lined up and back in its proper places.
The next step is to put the quarter windows back on. Line up the window with the velcro while zipping it up back into its original place. But make sure to tuck in the door rail retainers into the door rails.
To completely secure the window, you will need to tuck in the side window retainers onto the body of the Jeep. You can do the same thing on the opposite side of the window. Then, secure the soft top by closing down the header latches above the windshield frame and clipping the sun visors back into place.
