A breaking system is frequently a part of a vehicle that is largely ignored until something goes wrong; and it is at this point that it is often too late. • It is harder to stop/slow down your Jeep than it was before
• When you employ your brakes, a squealing or grinding noise can be heard

• During acceleration you experience excessive drag

There are a variety of reasons why your Jeep brake system may be taking strain. These include:

1. Loss of power assist from the power brake booster: When you lose power assist you are bound to experience poor braking performance. This may be caused by a loss of engine vacuum or the corrosion of the break booster diaphragm.
2. Oil-soaked brakes: When an oil seal fails there is the possibility that oil from the rear differential could get on the brakes. Another way this might happen is when grease from a failed rubber boot on a front end component makes its way onto the brakes.
3. Crystallized brake pads and/or shoes: This normally occurs when the brakes have been heated to the point where they become hard and ineffective at halting the rotation of the brake drum or motor. This is often the result of frequent panic stops. In order to grab hold of the drum/rotor to stop the vehicle, your Jeep’s braking material needs to be soft. When the brakes experience too much heat it hardens to a point where it is incapable of doing so – effectively rendering the brakes useless.
